White fillings are an aesthetic alternative for amalgam (silver) fillings. The fillings are made of a composite resin material that blends in with your natural tooth.
This type of restoration is suitable for small to medium sized cavities only. It can be used on front and back teeth. The material is bonded to the tooth to seal the cavity. The procedure is possible providing there is sufficient tooth on which to bond the filling.
The benefits of white fillings:
White fillings are suitable in most situations and can be constructed directly in the patient’s mouth. However should there be insufficient tooth structure remaining, following the removal of decay and the old filling, a stronger restoration may be needed, which is now manufactured in-house. This may involve a crown or inlay.
